Privacy Policy

Your calls stay on your phone.

Last updated: August 26, 2026

The short version: Nothing ever leaves your phone. Every screening decision is made on your device, and we receive nothing — the app has no internet access and no server to send anything to.

Who we are

CallSift (distributed in Japan as 電話BANG, "Denwa BANG") is a call-screening app for Android, published by TOTAL ASSIST K.K ("we"). This policy explains what the app does — and, more importantly, what it does not do — with information on your device.

What the app does

CallSift uses Android's built-in call screening role (CallScreeningService) to evaluate incoming calls against rules you configure: your allow list, block list, home-country settings, number-prefix rules, and callback screening. All of this happens locally, in the moment the call arrives.

Data we collect

Nothing ever reaches us. To screen a call, the app receives the incoming phone number from Android and keeps your lists and screening log in a database on the phone. Google Play’s Data safety rules classify this handling of phone numbers as “data collection”, so our store listing declares it. What matters is where the data goes: it is processed and stored on your device only. We have no server, the app has no internet permission, and nothing is transmitted to us or to any third party. The app contains no advertising, no analytics, and no third-party tracking SDKs. It does not create an account and never asks for your name or email address.

Data stored on your device only

To do its job, the app keeps the following in a local database on your phone. This data never leaves your device:

DataPurpose
Allow list and block listNumbers you chose to always accept or reject
Prefix rules and home-country settingsYour screening rules for international and prefix-based filtering
Screening logA local history of screening decisions, so you can review and adjust rules
App settingsYour preferences, including callback-screening mode and language

You can clear the screening log inside the app at any time. Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all of the above.

Permissions

The app does not read your contacts. Android itself lets calls from your saved contacts through before any screening app is consulted, so your contacts always ring — without the app ever seeing your address book.

Children

The app is not directed at children and, since no data ever leaves the device, we hold no data from anyone — children included.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change how the app handles data, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
